Seals and gaskets are crucial to efficient operation of your coin vac. Motor gaskets are used between the motor and the location where it’s being installed to prevent metal to metal contact and keep a tight seal. Other gaskets are installed on the access door to prevent air from escaping or entering the tank, allowing for optimal suction to be maintained.
These peel-and-stick gaskets are easy to install. The hardest part is removing the old gasket and any residue left behind. Use a razor, putty knife, or scraper for removal, and use a solvent or cleaner for especially stubborn gunk. Once the surface area is clean, simply stick the gasket in place and apply firm pressure for a minute or so.
If you’re experiencing weak suction with your vac, seals should be one of the first few things you look at before doing any expensive mechanical or electrical repairs. Replacing gaskets is very inexpensive compared to more advanced repairs, so what seems like a major issue might actually be a quick fix that only takes a few minutes and costs a few dollars.
